The arrival of the delegations

On Thursday morning at 9.35 a.m. the time had finally come: The long-awaited first MUNOG guests arrived at Stuttgart Airport. We first welcomed the delegation from Spain, which came from three different schools, and shortly afterwards the delegation from Poland. We were able to conduct initial interviews and ask the foreign guests about their expectations of MUNOG and their experiences as delegates. For many delegates, this is their first time at MUNOG and they emphasised their anticipation of the debates and getting to know the participants from the other countries. However, some delegates also honestly said they were a little nervous. They had prepared very thoroughly for their topics in the committees, but were unsure whether they would be able to keep up with the other delegates when debating. We are sure, they will!

We then had the opportunity to interview a student from the English delegation from Dronfield in more detail. We wanted to kow about his goals for participating in this year’s MUNOG. He replied that his main goals were to boost his confidence, improve his speaking skills and gain experience of attending conferences in general. We also asked him about his expectations for this year’s MUNOG conference. He said he was looking forward to hearing different perspectives from various people and understanding how they interpret different points of view. He also mentioned that he will be representing Germany in the conference, which he is particularly looking forward to.

Some of the other delegations arrived other than planned only in the evening, because their flights were delayed, but in the end we were able to welcome all our guests and are delighted that they are here. We now hope that everyone will have a good start to the conference despite a sometimes short night and have a great, unforgettable week!
