At the third day of the debate, still „measures to prevent war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by armed forces in the Middle East“ are being discussed. The day started with Israel introducing an amendment, to which Lebanon then replied that Israel would kill innocent civilians. Israel responded to this accusation, that theyre not killing innocent people, but they would attack the terrorist groups. The United States noted in the following, that it was necessary to stop the violent non-state actors, with Israel agreeing. Another amendment was tabled by Israel, but it was also not accepted. Turkey spoke out the most against it, as they thought that this would be a direct attack against Islamic states. The next change was introduced by Afghanistan. Turkey then delivered a speech in favor of the amendment, but said it was not accurate enough. However, the change was not included in the solution either. Russia then held a speech regarding to change an OC, and China directly responded to Russia’s speech and stated, that this would be good for the country’s appearance. In voting procedure the changed OC then passed with 10 votes in favor. The next amendment from Russia was not adopted. The next amendment was again submitted and presented by Russia. Russia said in their speech that it would prevent crimes against humanity by violent non-governmental actors. According to a statement from Russia, the United States called for an apology during the speech of the russian delegate, which was granted by the chairs. After Russia’s speech, the USA gave a speech in favor of the amendment, and that the Russian Delegate had convinced them in that case. The amendment then was adopted with 17 votes in favour. After that, a change was adopted by China and the United States. Sweden then presented an amendment, which was also rejected by the majority during voting procedure. After a short break, the USA read the developed solution out loud. After that, most states gave a speech in favor for the resolution. The talk of Israel caused a lot of commotion. Russia mentioned in their speech that they would stay out of the discussion, if they should go with this resolution or not. Iran, Lebanon and Syria then gave a speech against this solution. The solution was voted with 13 votes and will be presented to the General Assembly.
