The United Nations Human rights council addresses the issue of human rights violations in the mining of mineral resources in Congo. The committee decided to work on a draft resolution with China as the main submitter and Russia, India,Iran and Japan as co-submitters. The council acknowledges the severe human rights violations in the Democratic republic of Congo due to mining activities and is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the Congolese people. The resolution emphasizes the need for continued extraction of essential minerals like copper and cobalt while ensuring human rightss are protected. It proposes the creation of an emergency Congolese evictions taskforce (ECETF) to manage evictions and protect civilians, as well as the establishment of a new international fund, the Mineral Mining Aid Fund(MMAF), to provide financial aid and lower resource prices for contributing nations. The resolution calls for better communication between mining companies and residents, stricter control of supply chains and prevention of child labor. It also stresses the importance of fostering international cooperation, supporting displaced people and promoting ethical mineral supply chains. Additionally, it suggests housing eviction refugees temporarily in China and recommends periodic reports on mining conditions.The council aims to ensure transparency, safety and respect for human rights in the mining sector.
