Today, respectives from various countries discussed the issue of humanitarian aid in war zones, in particulary focusing on the situation in Gaza and exploring potential solutions. During the opening speeches, many emphasized the need to protect and support civilians in Gaza, where life is currently extremly difficult, and the danger of living in a war zone is ever- present. Additionally, healthcare has become severly inadequate due to attacks on hospitals, leaving many without access to necessary medical support.
Iraq stressed that protecting the civilian population and resacing innocent people is a high priority. Kenya raised similar concerns, pointing out the lack of access to clean water, food, and adequate medical care, while also highlighting that efforts to assist must continue. Nation are expected to support each other in this effort. A Q&A session followed in which the questions were answered quite well and the committee also dealt intensively with this problem case.
Following this, there was a longer period of lobbying, during which several countries collaborated on drafting a working paper for a resolution. China presented the resolution, which was tabled jointly with Turkey and supported by Algeria, the Congo, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Norway, the Russian Federation and Venezuela. The resolution emphasized that assistance should be provided not only to civilianz in Gaza but to the those affected by war zones globally. It was argued that this resolution could provide a solution to the crisis if it received widespread support.
As the final day approached, discussions arose regarding potential amendments to the resolution, with delegates negotiating changes and striving for consensus. Meanwhile, there was also a focus on preparing for tomorrow´s closing ceremony, where awards and other recognitions would be presented.
